Acts of Kindness

We don't realize what others experience.  Their outwardly appearance may seem jovial, happy, and maybe even at peace.  All the while, on the inside, a tumult of emotion, fear, and anxiety roils.  We just don't know what people are experiencing.

As folks approach the twilight of their lives, they tend to re-examine how life has unfolded for them.  I think I'd be safe to bet that most people have had things occur, that maybe they wish had nor have happened, or at least had turned out in some other way.  These things go on inside somebody that can tear them apart.  And, yet, they are reluctant to tell anybody about them.  More often than not, nobody asks either.  The fear that they have that their secret will be found out seems to stop them from trying to find solace in others.

It can happen that this internal tumult builds and builds and soon consequences are possible.  Health, both mental and physical, deteriorates.  Isolation sets in.  Should it become too unbearable, then in some cases, that person totally withdraws.

They wish and wish that just someone would show them some compassion.  Sometimes, just a small act of kindness from another could give that person hope, the sign they need to turn things around for them.  Sometimes that act may seem insignificant to the actor, but monumental to the recipient.

So, take a moment to show some kindness.
