Years ago now, there was a party. Not the sort of party that I'd throw. Actually, I wasn't even invited to this one. My wife hosted a party and I wasn't invited. "It's for the ladies." she told me. I was happy enough not to have to attend. I went golfing. I went golfing with George, the social worker at the hospital. We'd stocked the golf cart with the course provided beers. We got through the round without threatening anyone on the PGA tour.
I got home after the golf and she was so happy with the success of her Longaberger basket party. There were many sales and she had been awarded with a small, woven, organizer for keys, change, and the like. She'd also purchased a large basket. It was of the sort someone would use if they were picking apples or some such thing.
"How much?" I asked.
"$80" she said.
"$80? Does it wash the van too?" I was aghast.
I hadn't seen it in years. Today as I was going through boxes in the basement, I came across it.
The $80 she spent on it was a bargain for the memories it brought back. She was an awesome lady.....
Later.....
Deaner....
I have several Longaberger baskets (as a result of being roped into several such parties back in the day). They DO last forever, and glad to see in more ways than one.
